Overcoming OCD: A Theory

What good is a blog about overcoming the suffering of OCD, if there is no straight-to-the-point information about overcoming the suffering of OCD?

Available now, in the menu to the right, is a new tab: Overcoming OCD: A Theory.

This page contains a personal theory of mine about Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and thoughts on how I believe one can overcome the suffering of OCD.

Please feel free to check it out.  Comments always welcome.

  1. Hey! Great idea! Two things: It might be worthwhile to mention Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) therapy, the gold-standard treatment for OCD according to research and leading professionals. Also, as someone with OCD, Pure O does have rituals. They just aren’t usually outwardly visible. It can be very subtle things like mental checking, replaying memories, etc. OCD always involves compulsions though.

    1. You are absolutely right!! OCD always involves compulsions, they just aren’t always visible to others. I have rituals with my Pure O OCD too, just not all the time. I say “little to no compulsive behaviors,” because everyone experiences OCD differently, just trying to cover all the bases as best as I can; but I totally understand what you are saying and you are absolutely right and I totally need to change my wording!! Thanks! Also, Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is SUPER important to mention! I can’t believe I missed that one!! Thank you so much for your awesome suggestions, they are totally worth mentioning!
